notes: one of my favourite fics ever on god. started my brainrot for dad!husk, portrays one of the most scrumptious radiostatic dynamics and is generally so very well written that i might end up trying to recreate one of the scenes in comic form. genuinely in love with this fic and im so glad i can say i was the first comment on this fic because my God its such a treat to see new chapters drop for this. unfortunately i havent had the time to write out a detailed comment as of now but if someone wants to let the author know that im still in love with their fic and will continue supporting it until i drop dead go ahead for me

Headcanon: Miss You Like a Hole in My Head

Alastor and Vox were in a romantic relationship for five years and were even living together for a large part of it. Alastor had told Vox almost everything about himself. He'd shown him his most vulnerable side and had gotten comfortable enough with him to look right into Vox's eyes when they had sex.

Vox knew when Alastor was being phony and when he was being genuine, whether he was smiling through it or not.

And yet, when Vox learned he'd come back, though Alastor was expecting him to air every sordid detail to all of Hell and absolutely humiliate him, and while exposing every personal and horrifying memory Alastor had shared, make the Radio Demon look pathetic and helpless... make him look like a mere spider who was more terrified of others than others were of him...

...Vox didn't. There was so much he could've broadcast to completely ruin Alastor's existence. But he kept it to himself.

Though Alastor would never forgive him for breaking his heart, he thought maybe there was hope for Vox somewhere, somehow.

Vox and Alastor are childhood friends and as they grew up they didn’t see eye to eye on things anymore so they grew apart, Vox tried to move on and focus on his job as the news guy for the town. Alastor is one of the most wanted criminals that Lucifer wants dead and buried asap hahah! Alastor does sneak into town mainly to annoy Vox but also because he doesn’t want to let go of their bond completely and even though Vox keeps threatening he’ll report him to the sheriff, aka Lucifer, he knows he won’t do that to him since Vox still has a soft spot for him~✨

And well there are more feelings between them than just friendship ofc ❤️💙

When it comes to Lucifer and Vox’s relationship, it is mainly just a work relationship since Vox reports the news to Lucifer first and they ended up becoming friendly with each other over time! And they did end up sleeping with each other ONCE when they both were out having drinks one evening but they chose to not really talk about it any further 😂

I'm assuming there's going to be some sort of twist with the Vees or Alastor's powers in S2 because I KNOW he'd probably tank them easily- Vox and Velvette's domains are both built off of radio waves, right? He seemed to be able to cancel out Vox's hypnosis in Stayed Gone. And Velvette also dabbles in magic but like... she hasn't been in Hell nearly as long as Alastor, and he probably practiced in life, too.

Obviously there's still Valentino but. That's two out of three Vees. I'm sure the rest of the crew could team up to take down Val and win.

there's like hardly any evidence for this position i'm about to take but i actually think vox and alastor are evenly matched power-wise. val does say that alastor almost beat vox once, and while you can interpret that line in all kinds of ways, it does imply to me at least that alastor can't easily 1v1 vox in a full-on confrontation. stayed gone was different because that was a propaganda battle and vox was off his game (ofc, we don't know what him being on top of his game looks like yet), so alastor wrecked his shit with psychological warfare, but when it comes to actual raw strength i think alastor would really struggle, and up against all three of the vees together he would be entirely outclassed

I see so much one-sided or romantic radiostatic, and while I love it all, this is by far my personal favorite depiction of their relationship. Your art makes them look like such cuties even while they’re two of the scariest demons in hell <3 my personal fav so far is Al laying with Vox while he recharges it’s just so cute!!!

If you don’t mind me poking your brain of it I’d love to hear more about your AU and headcannons! If you want to bounce off of something specific then I’d love to hear how the residents of the hotel think of Alastor and Vox and if they clump them together or think of them differently.

I'm really glad you like it!!! I didn't expect it to get this reception at all as I was planning on it being something more along the lines of "Comfort" after seeing so much Angst content, so I'm genuinely glad so many people liked it!<33

As much as I like the ship I wasn't entirely sold on seeing it in a romantic or suggestive context; I rlly love that Alastor is respected as an individual Aroace (as a fellow Aroace lol) so seeing him in contexts of that sort were a bit ... demotivating??? So I wanted to create this Au of them being typical husbands but on a platonic way.

The residents of the hotel definitely have different opinions. On one side is Charlie who sees this as a great miracle, the two great entertainment representatives from hell, giving her hotel a chance! Especially when her relationship dances very well between the two of them; with Alastor there is "the voice of reason", the one who offers a solution and listens patiently and undaunted to whatever news she gives him, where she knows she will find an answer as Alastor chooses the pen over the sword; while with Vox there is the chaotic, where the sword is above the pen. He vocifies his opinions tactlessly and offers the less gentle, quicker and more effective ways. In him Charlie finds far more vivid emotions than Alastor would be willing to unveil.

Then there is Vaggie who is of course the most informed about these two and her concern is very much on the edge as she knows that the Media Demons are a couple that absolutely no one knows anything about beyond the false image they paint in their shows and the imminent danger these two represent.

Angel, Pentius and Cherry don't really have a strong opinion about them as they pass over or ignore them. Nifty is already more than familiar with both of them.

Husk (his relationship with Alastor is considerably "better", even though Al still owns his soul, than it is in canon as Alastor still owning his soul and having a faithful and warm companion with him for years, his personality is arguably somewhat more relaxed and patient than the original), like Nifty is already familiar with them so he doesn't give the matter much thought.

And Lucifer ofc is terrified that it's not just one but two Overlords who apparently want to steal his daughter.

I still have a lot of polishing to do on this Au as it's new but I want to slowly build it here as people can offer different points of view that can be explored (⁠ ⁠◜⁠‿⁠◝⁠ ⁠)⁠♡

Tis Thorn:

After The 2nd extermination and battle with Heaven, the Hotel gets another sinner. Everyone is extremely happy with this (well Alastor couldn't careless, except for how entertaining this sinner could be--and how he could use them to bug his Muse).

However...once VOX catches sight of this sinner...it's over. This sinner is his killer after all, and while Vox did leave a mortal blow on him as well (multiple blows, to be exact--Vox had poisoned his knives, during their fight. But the sinner had still popped Vox's head like a grape, so while Vox's death was quick the new hazbin's was an agonizing's six month long ordeal.)

So the Vees start ignoring the hotel and everyone in it. Angel Dust doesn't get called in--which at first he likes and is happy about. Until he starts running out of money. Which has never happened before with Val--the cash has always flowed, but so has the texts and calls...now, theres nothing.

Vox isn't following Alastor around at all, or paying him any attention either. He's hurt and pissed off. How dare Alastor help redeem his killer? Fuck the radio demon. Fuck the hazbin hotel. But especially Fuck Alastor and everything they ever had together.

OH. oh.... thorn your brain... humongus. ginormous. i endorse this idea 100% im crying screaming throwing up puking at this.genuinely tweaking rn what the hell

thinking... in the case that vox and husk had a familial relationship before he got contracted to alastor, he probably feels even MORE betrayed because now his pseudo father figure is also supporting his killer. fuck can you imagine. the horror that morphs into rage and anger when he realizes just who the new sinner at the hotel is

alastor probably doesnt understand why vox has been avoiding him at first, so he probably tries to send his shadow to go see why at first but when that gets turned away, he turns to angel, who for all intents and purposes is both elated to be left alone by valentino but also completely banned from the whole of the entertainment district for some reason. when they show up to ask why, charlie in tow, theyre informed by voxs quivering assistants that everyone associated with the hazbin hotel has been banned from the premises, before valentino and velvette come bursting through the doors and chases them out. alastor *almost* gets into a fight with them, but velvette manages to snatch him by the lapels and scream at him and call him a heartless bastard- at least, if youre fed up with voxs attention just tell him to fuck off like a normal person, you dont need to fraternize with the man who butchered and murdered him

and suddenly it all clicks with the fact that the new sinner at the hotel's stories, why he said he wouldn't be going with them to the entertainment district-- but then alastor, with his (sometimes annoyingly so) keen nose smells the scent of said sinner in the vees building and knows nearly instinctively that the bastard is headed for *his* vox's office, and without even a second thought he gives chase
